I don't know how these people think, in this day and age, they can get away with this stuff.

It’s a Gordian knot the Internet has made these actions easier but has also made being discovered easier as well

So true. I cannot imagine what VPN or whatever service they think they can use to avoid getting caught doing this stuff. The urge must be so strong that they take these huge risks. Scary really. I shudder to think how many more of them are out there yet to be caught.

I guess he saved them on his device and they were found during forensic search.

I was going to post something earlier but refrained as he had not pleaded guilty at that point.

My thinking was after Savile, Glitter and Harris - do they think they are "to big to fail" - or are the numbers in line with general population?

It makes you wonder how many more well-known people are up to the same sort of thing. Porn is one thing between consenting adults (not my thing), but kiddie-porn is totally unacceptable.

He was investigated in a separate case a while ago This has probably been discovered as part of that

Apparently it was separate to his (legal) BBC antics.

Having read the reports from the court, it appears he did not solicit the images or download them, they were sent to him and when he suspected they were illegal he told sender not to do it again, and he deleted them from his phone - but not the cache where they were discovered.

It reminds me of the Robyn Williams case - https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/c ... 18321.html

So maybe he will receive a similar sentence.

I would say 90 % of police think Robyn Williams should be sacked, the Met did actually sack her but were made to reinstate her

OK - I was just going by press reports - and interestingly it seems the sender of Huw Edwards' images has already been through the courts - suggesting that he was not the target of the initial investigations.
