Nuisance calls .... still getting them
The latest one is an 0359 .... number that then flashes up "Jean François".
First of all, we don't know anyone with a number that starts "03" and the name flashing up implies that it is in our list of numbers. We only know one Jean-François and he certainly isn't on our list !
Edit : Just checked the number and it's Eurodata.
We bought a new caravan and the engravings on the windows were done by Eurodata. We did not pay Eurodata, this was free when we bought the caravan.
Eurodata have now been pestering us to pay for a renewal of this insurance which is "renouvable" but certainly not by tacit reconduction which can be resiliated at any time. This is exactly what we've done, but we're still being pestered.
We are already insured with our usual company and we don't intend having any contact with them that isn't in writing. We had a long and difficult experience with one of the big insurance companies here who tried to make us pay for an insurance which we had never accepted, let alone signed for. It went as far as us being delivered with a summons before we finally said "Fine, see you in court, but you will end up out of pocket". It was the mentioning of the CLCV that probably shut them up.

I keep getting calls for insulation, solar panels, health insurance to which my reply in my worst French:
Excusé moi. Je sui* anglais at je ne parle francais bien.
* deliberate lack of the s before the vowel.

That does the trick for me as well.
I affect my best estuary accent for maximum effect.

We don't reply to any number we don't recognise and if they don't leave a message, it's obviously not important.

Our house phone is connected via our 4G router, and calls go to Free's voicemail if we don't pick up very quickly. There is no adjustment available for this, and all our family and friends have been told about it, and to leave a short message.
A bit of a nuisance, but cold callers don't seem to leave messages, and numbers are not recorded when no message is left.

We have a "Gigaset" phone for our fixed line which has a screen. When someone has called but not left a message, "new messages" flashes, along with the caller's number (perhaps due to the number of rings ?). They never leave a message and I delete them automatically.
Our fixed line also goes to voicemail after 4 or 5 rings and we can't adjust this either. I don't mind calling friends and family back even if they don't leave a message. The caller's name usually appears if it's a number I've recorded in the directory.

We also have a Gigaset, with three phone units, but few of the functions work now that it is plugged in to the 4G router.
e.g. Callers' numbers, missed calls, and advice of messages are not displayed. I have to open the router's information via its URL to get text messages, and check for voicemail via the Free web site.
However, advice of voicemails is sent to my mobile phone together with a link to hear them, which is handy when away from home.

We can't get texts on our Gigaset (2 phone units) - we're with Bouygues and they don't provide this service.

My land line always shows the caller id and I get lots of calls from 09, 02, 05 …. Numbers that I dont recognise so just delete them - they never leave voicemail. I really never use my landline anymore and when I switch providers pretty shortly I will dump it completely.
I get scam calls on my mobile as well but Orange seem to be quite good at flagging the calls as mal, so i just delete and block them. I have noticed that I’m getting text messages from scammers using mobile numbers, again it’s not difficult to suss them out and delete/block. They will run out of mobile numbers before I give in.
It’s a crazy world.
