I am not at all sure that the enormity of what had just happened would have sunk in, in those few seconds after the attack. As someone else has said, at that stage he would be fuelled on adrenalin.

He could certainly have suffered from shock - perhaps his reaction was instinctive. He's pretty tough it would seem !

And why all the females screaming? My OH said because they are American. She was on holiday abroad, there were a lot of Americans from a cruise shop on a beach when a gas bottle exploded somewhere not far off. They all started screaming and running away. Later tried to sue the cruise company.
