Post Office inquiry

Still bored here, am I missing something as it seems to be the government involved in all this compensation and eventually seem to be going to foot the bill, but wasn't the Post Office privatised some year back?

Royal Mail was privatised - and they are on their way to going bust also.

Not sure how POL will go bust - as state-owned - but rumours are that they may also be looking for £100M in tax also

I’ve just spent the afternoon watching the series Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
If only 50% of this is accurate I would still be more than happy for it to remain headline news until this whole matter has been resolved, with the truth being shared and the right people prosecuted.

Since the PO is 100% govt owned any fines will simply pass from one govt department to another. Similarly the well deserved for the unjustly tried as well as the undeserved compensation going to the guilty as well as the astronomical legal fees will all have to be paid by U.K. taxpayers. The only winners from all this debacle are the lawyers.

Paula Vennells trying to wriggle out of any involvement of the scandal today. Is it normal for a CEO to not seem to know anything that was going on?

Post Office going bust is another added to the list. I heard it mentioned this morning regarding water companies, and some local councils. So many public services are simply not fit for purpose these days. A result of so too many years of Tory blood sucking, Covid, Ukraine invasion, or too many expecting nice returns on their investments as the world economy slides down the pan?

Any ideas what the hell is going on?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Water companies going down the plughole because investors are taking out billions of £, not investing. So, put the cost up for the consumers, why not?

This list isn't long enough:

And Vennells is an Anglican Priest? Don't get me started on corrupt religious people!

In my mind it's all down to the uk selling everything off to foreign investors, employment may be up but all of the profits go abroad.
Try to find a uk car manufacturer, ship builder, port owner, ferry owner.
I could go on and on but will shut up.

That hadn't occurred to me, but it's obvious....
"Who are the shareholders of the water company in the UK?
The owners of this essential public service included the Chinese state, the Qatar Investment Authority, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the US company BlackRock and other private equity firms, the Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, the Malaysian magnate Francis Yeoh and opaque investment vehicles based in secrecy"

Digressing slightly, but it's all relevant, as The Post Office is about to also be sold off. It's almost like the foreign investors are slowly bleeding the UK dry. :?
