Anyone seen or heard from Hotrodder

I have little hope of getting help from insurance. They are bound to say it is just an old house, what do I expect. I had a go at dealing with the worst leak a couple of years ago and paid people to deal with it twice after that to no avail. My solution was to create a "dam" to guide the worst of the two leaks into a funnel and into a pvc pipe behind the dry lining and out through a spout above a strategically placed bucket in the lounge. Another bucket placed high in the rafters deals with the smaller leak in the bedroom.

The devastion in the garden apart from the fallen trees, etc. I can deal with over time. Shifting the branches will take all winter as there isn't much dumping space. It will all have to go to the tip in the trailer. I assumed I would find the polytunnel (our third attempt) would be scrap but no, it was simply picked up and moved thirty feet and tipped upside down with the cover still clinging to it. It had been held down by 5 heavy concrete fenceposts that I can't even lift. I pushed them onto the cover "skirts" with a tractor that is now gone.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Thank goodness you're OK, Hotrodder! Do persevere with an insurance claim, though. Damage as a result of an officially designated weather event, with proof of the wind speeds, is very likely to succeed. Surely it's worth a try? Bon courage!

"officially designated weather event, with proof of the wind speeds"
How does one go about getting this to present as evidence?

We didn't have to provide any specific evidence. The storm made headlines all over the country and the wind speeds were noted. LOTS of other insurance claims were submitted from the same storm. Double check, but I 'think' that named storms are automatically registered for the purpose of insurance claims. I would definitely make a claim. I was told NOT to clean up any debris from the storm until the insurance claims inspector had made a visit.

Had to wait about 5 days for him to arrive.

I think the link is meteoconsult.fr/certificat or something like that. It will give you proof for your insurance company.
Good Luck

I endorse the above, Hotrodder - there are still inhabitants in costal communes waiting to hear from their insurers months after the 'quake. We pay insurance premiums for just such events - don't let the barstewards get away with avoiding payment.
