He's been unusually absent from here since Ciaran ran amuck through Finisterre.
Hope he's OK

It's possible that he's been affected by power cuts and/or bad reception. I don't know exactly where he lives, but I think his department was quite badly affected by Ciaran. Hope he's OK.

Hello dear friends. Rumours of my demise have been exagerated. Yes, here in the land that time forgot (aka Cote d'Armor) we got a good pasting, as well as Finistere. The internet has only just come back on. It blew like Armageddon Wednesday night and we woke to find the end of life as we know it. No electricity for two days, and random power cuts ever since. With only and electric cooker and microwave meals became a lottery. When the power did come back on there was no internet to be had. That meant no communications at all because our landline arrives through the internet. Even the radio is an internet one so there was no way to access news or weather reports. Over the last three days we have been going out in the car with the laptop trying to find some public wifi to get a message out to our fosse vidangeur. It is full to the top and about to overflow so there is some urgency. No internet in the closest two towns and couldn't even send a letter Receipt Accuse (??) because there was no internet at the post office. Tried to find the actual address where the fosse man is based (quite some distance away) both yesterday and today with no luck. Our ancient gps knows nothing of central Brittany since the new motorway cut through it east to west. Anyway, our garden has several very tall pines but none were lost this time, but several medium sized ones went down doing their best to wipe out a couple of mature flowering shrubs that were pretty much the only points of colour, and we now have a new roof leak to add to the ones we knew about. The trees will at least top up our firewood supply a few years hence, if I live to get it cut and stored.
I now have a list of things re: disaster planning for the future. I will get started as soon as I wade through all my emails that are waiting for attention. I will start a new thread when I can. Best wishes to all. H.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Lots to deal with Hotrodder. At least you both are safe.

I hope your insurance policy will help you with the storm damage. Our roof (along with 50% of all our interior electrics) in Bédoin was damaged during a heavy storm with 160km winds a few years back. Our insurance policy covered 100% of the repairs and replacements.

Hopefully your coverage will help you, especially with the roof.

Best of luck.

Glad to hear you're okay @Hotrodder - yes the wind was very scary but not as bad here as where you are.
Hope you get your fosse and roof sorted out quickly.
Good luck !
