My lucky day
Nothing to do with déchetteries, but something was definitely left behind, and very precious.
Long ago my husband went to the SEB shop for something or other; sat our younger son, then aged about 4, in front of the tv, just as other parents did.
He arrived home for lunch and I thought it was very quiet - asked what M was up to - “oh, heavens - I’ve left him at the SEB shop!” He raced back to town, parked on the double yellow lines outside the SEB shop, raced in and there was M still sitting watching tv - who moaned that it was time to go, but cheered up to learn that lunch was ready.
My husband has never been allowed to forget the day he forgot his son - there’s some excuse if it’s a new baby that someone hasn’t quite got used to, but a chatterbox 4 year old??!!

My lucky day
Many years ago I took an old office chair to our local déchetterie. It was one of those swivel jobs with an gas filled riser that had long ago given up it's last. The chief took at look in the back of the car and said " you're not dumping that are you? ". It's been in the office ever since.

My lucky day
Someone we knew I bit stuck up holiday home owner, loaded his trailer up with garden waste and long planks of old wood, when he came back his nice new car was without its back window
we found out he had reversed to unload and had forgotten about the overhang of the planks
they was pushed backwards straight through the rear window ouch.

My lucky day
We sometimes see old bits of wood in one of the skips, and say to whoever is on duty that it's a crime throwing away wood that you can at least burn!
When we sold our Pépinière back in 2014, we had to clear out 3 workshops and an upstairs - loads of stuff inherited from the previous owner from 2006. A mix of garden, building, and plumbing stuff. The van would open up at the dechetterie, and stuff would go in all directions but rarely in the skips!
Fun times!!
