Window Cleaners - do they exist in France?

#1 Post by demi »

Just one of those random thoughts as I was walking through town this morning. I don't think I have ever seen a professional window cleaner anywhere in France.

Have I just not noticed them or does everyone do their own?

Whereever I lived in the Uk there were always several companies in any one area.

Don't really need 'em here as, unlike the UK, windows open inwards so no need for ladders to access first floor.
I suppose some folk will still want or need someone else to do it but they're the sort that probably have a handyman on call. ;)

I've seen window cleaning services used at businesses, but not that often. Never seen it done at a private home. It is very common in the U.S.

Like Lori, I've seen window cleaning businesses. In fact there's one not far from me. But they clean for companies, not individuals.

If you have a paid-for home help or someone to help with your housework then they will often clean your windows too if asked.

Our femme de ménage cleans our windows if she has time.

I keep trying to persuade my missus to get a femme de ménage as she's always moaning about house cleaning which rarely gets done.
She responds that she's not having anyone in our gaff to see how dirty it is & she'd have to thoroughly clean the place before she let anyone in to clean it

Yes, but it's also normal! Our FdM - Christelle - is wonderful and spends just 2 hours here making everything spotless, after doing the same for our daughter in a neighbouring village. It doesn(t cost a huge amount, although we have to pay social charges on top. Yoiu get a tax credit of 50% of the total cost at thee end of the year.
