This is purely me being nosey, but I'd be grateful if you could participate - it's completely anonymous so no-one will know where you are.

There's no need to post a reply just tick the relevant box please - Many thanks.

Everyone should fill in their location in their profile - talking of which "Lausanne (and sometimes Suffolk)" doesn't appear in the above. :-)

Can we keep the results public? I, for one, would be fascinated to see how many other members lived in my area.

The need for some discretion when advertising your location is, unfortunately necessary, from snippets of information, it is easy to obtain a vast amount of knowledge about someone. I had the unfortunate experience of having my details registered on an American gay website by a very active forum contributor , at the time. People turning up at my address wanting various items I had for sale at amazingly cheap prices, all of which was vehemently denied by said perpetrator, however I keep a record of their details, in case I need to return the favour at some time.

But wasn't that info you provided to register to use a site - not the information you put on public view in your profile?

I am certain Char can be trusted - the only risk is if phpBB has a flaw.

It is info that was put on several different places, yes forum registrations, website usage advertisements for something you may have for sale, normally quite innocently put out there, I mean a buyer needs your address to come to view or collect something, so you need to either post it or pm to them, unfortunately some people think it is a huge laugh to register you on something you would not wish to be on, now I know a bit better. I concur that Char can be trusted she wouldn't submit anything to anyone, not that she has any details of me, but it wouldn't, given a little computer savvy, be hard to find. This survey is perfectly innocent as far as I can see, only asks for your dept, more info is given on my profile location, so I am not worried about that, just a comment to say that there are some very vindictive people out there with a warped sense of humour

Yes, I was thinking more permanently, after you have done your survey.

Oh yep sorry I misunderstood, it'll stay here, I might even do a map with pins in it, just for fun. :D
