Why should Macron resign? All he has to do is appoint another PM if he wants to and that would just be window-dressing. Sorry to say it, but the French do not like women managers. The opposition are just shouting, les syndicats are just shouting, and the LR half-sitting on the fence. There's no finesse involved, from any quarter.
And we mustn't forget that some of the most generous pension packets go to parliamentarians and senators.

Exactement Mad. The CGT are a bunch of rabble rousers whipping up discontent.
The French remonstrate/demonstrate against the wrong thing half the time and they need to learn a little bit more about their constitution : Yesterday Elisabeth Borne faced the shouters with words to the effect of "If you have a problem with 49.3 then you need to look at the constitution drawn up by De Gaulle". At last, but why has this not been mentioned before ?
49.3 is a constitutional right even if governments hesitate to use it for reasons already mentioned.
If anyone is not being democratic, it's the manifestants !

It will be interesting to see if they keep the protests going until the Olympics in order to extract concessions then.

It's unlikely, J. If the grèvistes aren't being paid and there isn't enough in the coffers to support them, they will find it difficult to continue.
As for the street manifs, if they continue to be destructive, the people will get fed up - as they will with the rubbish on the streets which could become a serious health hazard .... or a haven for wildlife !

They'd get them too, if Mme Hidalgo had her way. She doesn't give a damn about her "administrés".

Stupidity in Bordeaux as they set the town hall alight. These are not genuine protesters just opportunistic yobs. Hit them hard.

The demonstrating has become ridiculous. Half those in the streets are just there for the beer and the other half are there to stir up trouble - CGT and black bloc. As for the damage being caused ....
One million people in the streets is hardly representative of the French population of 67+ million - it's an undemocratic rabble.
Normalement the bin men come tomorrow, but these days we have so little rubbish that we can't recycle or burn that it doesn't matter to us whether they turn up or not. I haven't noticed any rubbish on the streets anywhere, so perhaps they're not striking here ... yet.
Our local Intermarché indicated today it had run out of diesel. There have been peaceful demonstrations in Saint-Malo today though I heard that some roundabouts were blocked on the way out of the town.
