What's this for?

#1 Post by L Austin France »

Just found this in my box of stuff I've bought which may come in handy one day. Trouble is I haven't got a clue what it's for or why I bought it. Looks like some sort of folding scraper thing.

Aah, but it will come in handy even if you never use it.

The bottle opener notch is fairly obvious but the other holes and shapes are a real challenge.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Is that writing of a symbol on the LHS of the black handle below the holes? Any other markings?

No writing or markings anywhere.
The 'blade' locks open/shut & is released by pushing the button on the handle.
The obvious bevelled edges are sort of sharpish but not knife blade sharp.
It's quite robust & a decent engineering job , whatever it is :lol:

The teardrop-shaped hole maybe to remove round-headed nails?

Yonner's link does not work for me so I have no idea if my suggestion here is a waste of time. I see this as a handy tool for window glazing or picture framing. The narrow dark notch would help slide a small nail next to glass in a window or pictureframe. The knife edges to smooth putty perhaps. It is not unlike some tools I used to make glass in lead windows.

@Yonner - Well-identified. This is the original item in a different disguise https://www.daytoncotools.com/exec/prod ... S-601&lg=E
