Pensions late?

Quiksilver wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 11:38 am The usual cause of late payment of UK State pensions is a bank holiday in the USA. The UK government farmed out processing of pension payments to an american Company. That doesn't explain why the other was late, though, unless the NHS also uses a foreign Company?
.
Just checked I think you could be correct the 16th was Martin Luther King Jnr day A bank holiday

Yes it was a problem with the USA bank / national holiday thing, there was an announcement when I rang the other day to that effect, amongst a load of other garbage you have to sit through before you get a human, who then tells you that after a 3 hour phone call being passed from pillar to post that probably best to write in. Trouble there is when are they going to actually get the letter.

Neither heard of nor experienced any such shift and in any case the day your pension is due (note day not date) is determined by the last two digits of your NI number.

00 to 19 Monday
20 to 39 Tuesday
40 to 59 Wednesday
60 to 79 Thursday
80 to 99 Friday

If something is paid every four weeks that is 28days, there are 28/30/31 days in each month so you get thirteen payments per year, my NHS pensions are paid monthly so twelve payments on the same date, each month.

My Teacher’s pension is paid on the date of the month before my birth date, but obviously that changes when the date is a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday in the UK or USA (I was told they use Citibank which is affected by US holidays). Therefore, unlike the state Pension it is not a fixed day.

I didn't say there were not 13 payments, we all know that there are.

I questioned the alleged (coming) forward by two or three days each month which it doesn't.

What happens with pensions other than the UK state is something else entirely.

If it didnt come forward each month then how do you end up with a double payment in one month? also that month changes each year, in DW case her double month was last April this year the double month is March. Its very easy to work out take a calendar, pick your lasts month payment date and mark it, count four weeks and mark that keep going the date changes each month and in that particular year you will arrive at a month when a payment is due at the start of the month ie 1st,2nd,3rd and possibly the 4th, then there will be one after 28 days ie in the same month. It sounds like you may have a monthly pension not a weekly one.

But it does for every month except February.

If you receive a payment in a month with 31 days it will come forward 3 days for the next payment - so for example payment of 23rd March leads to next payment on 20th April - forward numerically by 3 days. Similarly a 30 day month will make the next payment numerically 2 days earlier.
