Deliveries going to the wrong address.

#1 Post by Spectrum »

This has been going on now for a few years, its doesn't matter where I order from mainly Amazon but every now and then they get delivered to a house about six miles away, they even sign for the parcels  I have been twice to see them, but my French is not good enough, they deny everything even if shown their address and a signature, they have had about 700€ of goods over the years, I do get them replaced or refunded eventually but its a pain in the butt, the address has the same post code and the number two, but the road name and the village are totally different, what can I do? :?

Are they delivered by La Poste or by a courier?

I experienced this recently, Spectrum. The same item was delivered twice, supposedly delivered and signed for, but certainly not received by me! When I entered my address on Google maps, it pinpointed a village 10 kms away, so I assume that was what the deliverer was using as GPS. All you can do is make sure that your address is fully up to date on whichever site you're using, including new number and street name if you have one. Most sites have a section for additional information so you could add your latitude and longitude coordinates there as well as brief directions.

The problem I have had is that since giving the up to date address, including number and street name, given out a couple of years ago, the google maps, having not been updated, do not give the location. What about this 3 little words, don't know if that works better if at all here

Why not have things delivered to a Relais Colis? If the items are too big to fit in your vehicle, assuming you have a vehicle, that could pose a problem. Some businesses allow you to put in 'special instructions' for delivery drivers. You could state ID must be provided to delivery person.

I've noticed that many vendors are now requiring a code in order to receive your package. The code is sent to the portable phone number on your order. We've had to do that many times lately.

I’ve made instructions part of our address, in capital letters and directly under my name, above the address. None have gone astray since then. It looks a bit odd, but great that it works.

The couriers can be different, we are all up to date with the address, but some use auto fill, and sometimes when I deal with a new company the address pre filled is the wrong one, so Iam very aware on new sites, but this is not like this, some of these sites have been used many times the correct address is in the correct boxes, I think its just lazy drivers, its a fair drive to where we live, just easier to drop of at a number two, saves time. I pay for door to door delivery so I don't have to get the truck out, but that doesn't always work  Have made a claim this seems to be a new courier, at least one I have not heard of "Colis Prive".

Three little words is odd in that it gives completely different words for any position according to the language used. If you use the App in English and gave the words generated to a user using the App in French it would not help them at all.

Every single Amazon order I’ve received for a long time now has arrived via La Poste. Not one has used a courier.

If I understand correctly, "Colis Prive" can refer to any private delivery service. There are quite a few out there. So, unless the delivery service sends you a text or email, you have no way of knowing who will be delivering your package. We've had private deliveries many times (even orders through Amazon.fr), but we've never had a problem with them.
