I've just listened to this on the BBC website and thought it was brilliant.
The presentation was very different to the Queen's speech, and it was nice to see the Royal Family reaching out to the public, so very necessary if they want to keep the monarchy alive today. I thought it made them seem human, more approchable, far less impersonal than most presidents ....

The King's Speech
It will be interesting to see what the U.K. press makes of it in the papers tomorrow. He mentioned by name and gave support to the public service workers that the papers have been demonising. Good for him.

I'm not a royalist but I accept they exist. I think he did a good job, far more 'relatable' than the normal speech his mum gave. He's obviously trying to connect with the man on the street, and might even help to wind down the right wing rhetoric which is so prevalent in the UK. If he achieves that he'll be worth his weight in gold.

The King's Speech
I was a bit late arriving (1970) but I've always felt that the Queen did a good job and generally did what was expected of her in terms of tradition, etc. I do feel it was a shame she hung on to the job for as long as she did because I think Charlie would have been a modernising influence and been able to do a lot of good. He has always shown an interest in issues beyond royal protocol.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
