UK bank account(s) closure
I had a look at their website this morning. It looks like they cater for corporate entities rather than individuals.MAD87 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 8:37 amThanks, no harm in giving them a call. The City is where I opened our original CA account in 1989.Blaze wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 5:56 pm There's a branch of Cred Ag in London (used to be South Kensington when I were a young gel, one of my flatmates worked there) but it's in the City now. Might be worth a try, either from this end of contacting them in the UK :

@ajm ditto.......it gets more scary by the day. I've just been looking at Monese which seems OK but I don't do mobile banking and don't want to start and it's not a bank so not any use for NS&I nor for having UK pensions paid into it.
Anyway here's the link if anyone is interested.
'Monese accounts are e-money accounts, and they're provided by our long-term partner PrePay Solutions (PPS), who is authorised and regulated by the FCA and the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) to issue e-money and provide payment services.'

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Looks a possibility - provided the various UK bodies will pay into it - unlike Wise I understand.Sparkle wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 2:55 pm@ajm ditto.......it gets more scary by the day. This is the Banks incorporated in the United Kingdom list from the Bank of England.
https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/-/media ... t-2110.pdf
I suspect National Savings, etc will only accept banks on the list? Monese is not included.

I received a message from Lloyds a couple of days ago, about changes to their T&C's, containing the following paragraph:
EU Exit
• If you are no longer a UK resident, we may have to close your account or offer a different level of service and have updated our conditions to reflect this.
• We've removed reference to the European Online Dispute Resolution Platform to reflect that the UK is no longer part of the EU
We have had the same account since the 1960's, and the last time I was actually "in branch" I noticed it was marked "Valued customer"
Guess we'll find out how valued we are.

We got our "Dear John" letters today from the Halifax -same wording. Only says may have to close the accounts. Is there some doubt about doing it or are they letting us down gradually?Nomoss wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:58 pm I received a message from Lloyds a couple of days ago, about changes to their T&C's, containing the following paragraph:

I'm waiting to hear if Nat. West are going the same way but nothing so far.
