Perhaps "Melanistic's Cakewalk" "Sooty's Cakewalk" or perhaps "the Non-Reflective's Cakewalk" ....... The mind boggles.

I wish they'd found a better word, as "woke" conjures up so much negativity.

Completely agree Bayleaf,the actual principle as with the similar ‘ political correct’ is brilliant and what we should aim for,but they become tarnished with negativity and taken to the extreme but the average person is put of by extremity

For those who may not know, the cakewalk was a dance popular with black people in southern states, danced with pseudo-formality as a dig at white slave owners ... so in this case with regard to political correctness, the boot is on the other foot, as it were !

Much of woke refers to stupid prejudice, rewriting history, distortions of research in the aim of prejudicing young minds. The aim is a Corbynesque takeover

@Blaze yes, I loved my golly brooches too getting my mum to buy more jars of Robertsons jam & marmalade than we needed so that I could remove the labels to collect the gollies or golliwogs as they were originally referred to - actually I am not at ease now with the original name.

When I first arrived in England (1970) the lads down the pub used to call me the "white wog". I didn't feel offended, even after I found out the racist subtext.

I was never bothered by being called a "white honky" by black people, even though it was probably meant to be offensive ! But then it wasn't happening to me all the time ...
