(no referrences to that arse Trump here).
No need for them, he didn't win the popular vote in either of his presidentials. No true democracy there, as also in the UK.
Nor in France. Macron and his crowd have done nothing good for France during his tenure but he will probably be voted in again by the headless chicken voters.

How about Jean Carl Pierre Marie d'Orléans as Head of State? Or Charles, Prince Napoléon? Or Louis Alphonse, Duke of Anjou?

Why not? They'd probably lead less lavish lifestyles/ cost the French state less than the average politician :D

Macron has rolled back some of the over generous pension schemes of the likes of SNCF and proposed raising the national retirement age to 65ish, all very necessary. He has not done enough to get rid of the blood sucking government employees who have bled France dry for far too long.

The unions have largely been quiet which is rare.

He got rid of the Taxe d’habitation which has been good for most of us.

Inward investment into France is high and their exports are not doing badly either. At least he can talk to industry and banking,find out their needs, caution them where necessary.

Les gilets jaunes were, in the end, too much of a mixed bag to make much sense beyond ‘give us more’.

He now needs to cut taxes at the lower end, reduce charges too, encourage entrepreneurs.

Much of the opposition to him is/ was because he came from a business/ banking background rather than the union/socialist party/grand admin route which made him anathema to many. And because he helped get rid of the incompetent, burnt out regime of Hollande and friends.

Still he is an arrogant little s**t but the best of a mediocre bunch.

@tagh
I agree with you but I think all presidents are / have been arrogant. IMO, he's no more so than his hopeless predecessor (moi président).

Oh and I can't vote here but .. we regularly go for a coffee on a Sunday morning and usually park in the 'salle polyvalente' car park .. which today was heaving.
There was heavy traffic of both cars and people this morning on our arrival and even more on our departure about an hour later.
Should be a good turnout. Wonder how the result will be.
