Indeed J, a day to remember and a warning, but I do wish that some people would not detract from that memory by insisting on equating anti-Semitism with criticism of Israel as a modern state in its treatment of the displaced Palestinians. Something which perhaps fuelled the problems that J. Corbyn had/has encountered, though I am no apologist for his views in general.

Indeed - if we look at the working definition of antisemitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, we see
However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic.

The Holocaust should never be compared to anything else, or related to what might be happening today, or even after the war. It happened on our own doorstep, events so terrible, and so many innocent lives lost. We should keep the memory alive to prevent something like it happening again.

I'm not usually one to take offence or get angry about things 'cos life's too short - but that really does wind me up no end, 'tis disgusting.

I couldn't agree more. But sadly attacks on minorities of all kinds have always existed and continue to this day. Some of the cruelty inflicted on Jews in the Middle ages was atrocious. I can't, and never will be able to understand the mentality of people who do such things. But it's something we must all fight against constantly. Cruelty of any kind is not only bad for those on the receiving end, but also corrodes the soul of the perpetrator.Blaze wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 2:48 pm The Holocaust should never be compared to anything else, or related to what might be happening today, or even after the war. With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride
