Makes a change to get something out of the system, always gripes me when the leccy bill arrives, if you look at the actual electric consumption charge it's about 50% of the bill, the rest being TVA, and other erroneous charges, then TVA on TVA, supposed to be illegal.

It IS illegal - I wrote to the relevant EU authority a long time ago who advised me to contact Bercy. Duly done, I got a missive months later from Michel Sapin vaunting the "fact" that Hollande's govt had reduced taxes.... Go figure. French governments have been breaking EU law for decades, but TVA provides vastly more income than IR.hughnique wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 11:54 am Makes a change to get something out of the system, always gripes me when the leccy bill arrives, if you look at the actual electric consumption charge it's about 50% of the bill, the rest being TVA, and other erroneous charges, then TVA on TVA, supposed to be illegal.

Just for info...the €100 chéque energie is the Gov's way of administering the recently announced sweetener to those eligible but who aren't affiliated to a caisse. Neat. Whether it goes to your energy supplier or on a fill-up, the Gov gets most of it back in tax
Re. the taxes on electricity bills, I seem to remember that one in particular was declared illegal and that it was supposed to be possible to reclaim it? Did anyone ever succeed? I'm pretty sure that it's still being added to bills, although it's probably been re-named
The TVA applied to taxes is breathtaking, isn't it? How do 'they' get away with it?

Government giving out ̶b̶r̶i̶b̶e̶s̶ assistance with high fuel bills. Anyone would imagine there is an election coming up.
Let's see if there is a repeat next year.

Wrong it doesn't include those whose sole income is from "foreign" income including pensions.
