When you live in a small village with a voting population of about 60+ with many of the households interrelated, it is probably politic not to vote if this proposal should come to pass.

Dont think it will, somehow. It doesnt seem important when the Assemblé is busy shouting and screaming about other more important issues.

A while ago, my neighbour Georges on one side asked me to buy a remise from my neighbour Henri on the other side, then sell it to him, because they didn't talk to each other.
I pointed out that doing that would involve paying taxes and notaire's fees twice, and said I didn't think it was a good idea.
That's when I resolved never to "integrate" and thereby become involved in local politics.
It was actually just as bad when we lived in a small village in Cornwall. We were careful not to express any strong opinions on local goings-on.
It was different when we lived in a Wiltshire village, as my family had lived there for a few centuries, and they knew where we fitted in, even though I hadn't lived there since primary school.

A few years ago there was a huge divide in the local population around here after one of the locals refused to sell a couple of fields to another for a discounted price. I was interested to see that I’ve been placed firmly in one camp despite never having commented on the situation. Funerals seem to be the only time that the two factions are seen in the same place.
