The number I have for Wise is 0044 203 695 0999, can be a bit slow but I have actually spoken to a human.

I have never had any problem with Wise using safari. No ad blocker, pop up blockers , beta blockers, Zilch.

I am all set up to give Optimal Currency a try tomorrow.

They have received five documents from me in very good quality scans. Three of them with photos. They only confirm that the EDF facture has been approved. This is since last Friday. I had an email today clearly copied from a script along the lines of: "It helps us combat money laundering, and keep everyone’s money safe."

I would tend to agree with the person who thinks Wise just can't be bothered to work for us little people that don't make big transfers (netting them big fees). Of course the really big boys who are shifting tens of thousands will do so without any hassle at all. And of course, the money launderers and politicians who want to tuck away their backhanders where journalists can't follow.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I've used Wise for a long time now and have no complaints. I had to renew a selfie recently which is always a bit of a faff when they spring it on you! It worked though and it's business as usual.

I am still getting emails from Wise. Sounding more like A.I. chat bots quoting from the same script. The latest was from "Lulu".
Having given up on Wise, we have successfully signed up with alternative fx services. Me with TorFX who were very helpful and accepted all my identifying documents uploaded by email, and my wife with XE (recommended by AmandaJ on page 2 above). XE accepted her documents scanned by the same laptop webcam that Wise continually rejected as not clear enough.

I also moved to XE, which I used as HiFX, before I moved to Wise some years ago, and had the same experience with the laptop picture ritual.

I think the success with XE was because they ask for selfie and passport images separately, so I was not holding my PP in one shaky hand whilst trying to get it and myself in frame, and using the mouse with the other.

Having set up my account, the "only" problem now is that their system said the payment by my DD card for a transfer into Euros was not "authenticated", although my bank's verification system had approved it. The transfer was urgent, so I made it through my bank, which cost me about £250 more.

XE said the problem was due to my bank, and suggested I inform them of the problem, which they said had happened before, but when I did this, my bank said it was XE's fault, as they had no record of any failure of authorisation for the transaction.

I have since made a small trial transfer into Euros by sending the money directly to XE's UK bank rather than using my DD card, which worked correctly.

Whatever it has taken a bit of a downward knock since the budget down to 1.18 now.

One of the reasons my transfer was urgent; the added expense is somewhat mitigated.
