Here it's a kind of o-luhrrriarrry. I had a particular West Indian client in London (a madam with a sideline in GBH) who called me Miss Orairy.

I always thought that the first part was the mother’s name and the second part that of the putative father which might be dropped or changed if and as evidence was forthcoming either way. In the case of more than one child, the mother’s name might well be the only constant!
