I suspect all the banks etc. will fail to get the green light to continue in the EU. I doubt that OH's applicatiohn to Nationwide to be joint holder of my account will succeed and I anticipate the same Dear John letter from them in due course. Maybe the banks are being asked to pay a licence fee they consider too high?

I kept my Nationwide and Britannia Building society accounts open when I moved here, just in case I decided to return.
Britannia then became part of the Co-operative group, but I could continue to access my account on line. Today I tried to log in online only to find that service has been withdrawn so I have just closed that account and will transfer via my bank to France as a nice little bonus.

Sorry to be a bit pedantic - but how can something you already have be called a bonus. Have a nice day.Chappers51 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:21 am I kept my Nationwide and Britannia Building society accounts open when I moved here, just in case I decided to return.

One of my monthly pensions comes from Canada Life. I emailed them asking how would they pay my pension if my UK bank account was closed. Today I received a letter from them with a form to complete stating the currency In which I would like my pension to paid, also stating 'Please note payments made to your overseas account may incur charges from your bank or intermediary banks.' Well at least that's one of my private pensions sorted. Now I need to get my head out of the sand and ask the same question of my main pension provider although I don't imagine there would be any difficulty with them sending to an 'overseas' account being a large international insurance company - hopefully!
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

I hope you are right but I fear that receiving a credit card is no guarantee of anything.
My Barclays bank card expires in December. They will close my account in January - if I have not done so myself. I will bet that I get a new card.

I've read all this stuff above, so where does that leave us??? I've written to Wise 3 times with no response so have tried HSBC and am waiting for them to respond. After that, where do I go?
I understand that transferring my pension from UK to my bank (CA) in France will not be a problem and is in fact advantageous regarding the exchange rate. Can someone please corroborate this then that problem will be out of the way.

My UK friends all seem to do this .. arranged by contacting the pension service and filling in a form or, if you are lucky, speaking to someone competent on the phone I understand.
