Yes it was. I'm of the mind that Mercedes and the FIA let Lewis down.

Max only won the race because they changed the rules, and I'm hoping that the appeals will be investigated.

I think the fairest way to play it, give Max and Lewis the same tyres and do 5 laps from the same starting positions.

It wouldn't be fair to strip Max of the title if the investigations go in Mercedes favour

What do others think?

I don't think there is any good solution now.

I think they really need to have a good look at how the in race decisions are taken and communicated by the stewards / race director.

They should stop the team managers been able to talk to the stewards, Lewis gained an advantage on the first lap and did not give it back, at the end he was asking why he had not come in for fresh tyres, he stayed out, Max came in and back out on the softs all done under the safety car, and won the race, Karma I would say, it was a bad call from Mercedes that lost the race. The stewards had the right to decide whether or not to allow the lapped cars to overtake.

This pit stop question by Mercedes happened recently, you think they would have learnt their lesson and got him in under the safety car, I don't think there can be any doubt that Hamilton is a superior driver than Max, he has far more experience and a faster car, at the end of the day it was a bit of a shambles on the last lap but Max did win. As for Lewis gaining an advantage, he was rather pushed off the track by Max and had very little option on where to go, he did though slow down a bit to allow Max to regain his position. I find it amazing that the team managers have this wonderful foresight, Lewis was asked halfway through the race what tyres he would prefer in the event of a safety car, lo and behold, then Horner said on the closing laps about needing a miracle, lo and behold. Makes you wonder if like a lot of other "sports" that there is money behind it all, dictating the final positions. Let's hope George Russell can do a better job than Bottas next year.

As a teenager I once asked my Dutch Uncle Meine, Holland Africa Line Captain, about the germans. He replied, well its like this, we import the coffee, select the best and send the rest up the Rhine to Germany.
Tactically the Österreicher was too dumb.
Enough said. Case closed.
