Cool gadgets?

@ DominicBest, and even where you would not go shopping in the weekend for very high-end audio equipment, perhaps visit once a year the annual vide-greniers, it's there. In la France profonde, in Arthel, where Neil Cowes is marketing turntables and amplifiers. Several years ago I saw also the EAR 830, 869, 861 899,MC4, 509, V12 , 534 amplifiers mentioned and the LEBEN amps. Investment decision pending: high-end audio, a new soldering iron, classic cars or your energy bill?

The link above tells me that Taylor Swift and Harry styles records are £33, bit top heavy IMHO.

Very top heavy considering the actual quality of modern pressings. Loads of negative comments on music and hifi forums about quality issues since the vinyl revival. Reasons being the small number of pressing plants that still operate are struggling to meet sudden demand, shortage of properly trained skilled personnel to operate the aging machinery, and shortage of the precise grade of raw vinyl required for the process.

Believe it or not, there is now a growing rebirth of interest in musicassettes. Certain older titles are making high prices on the secondhand market and high end Japanese players from Nakamichi, Sony, Aiwa, Denon, and Tascam are fetching crazy numbers.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Just had a look at that site.
Bloody hell! Are these things really worth the prices being asked?
I've never understood how amps like this are rated as, other than using the same machine under laboratory conditions to do this, everyone who listens to the output will have different 'hearing' & have different accoustics where they are are listening.

LEBEN, a little Japanese company, in house manufacturing and indeed a niche market. The same as for several high-end Japanese kitchen knives. Or what about these cool metal gadgets?

To Germany where some are in the market for amplifiers in the "Oberklasse" and the "Spitzenklasse" with also interesting names and price labels.

The Germans are very "into" high end vintage stereo. I have noticed on ebay over recent years the best stuff in the best condition is being offered by German sellers. Sadly, at top market prices.

None of the usual filthy scratched crap that looks like it has lived in a building site skip for most of the last decade bearing the comment "I don't have any speakers, etc. so I can't test it".
