I back up my car to the garage door, get out, and open it, then close and lock it from inside. I get out when I'm in the garage anyway, so it's only a few extra steps outside to open the door and get back in the car, compared to a remote control system.........
When we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house I found that I could open the garage door from outside by forcing each side in turn away from the frame, so I now padlock it to a ringbolt in the concrete floor when we are away for more than a few hours.
I had a friend in England who received an unusually high phone bill with many overseas calls he never made.
Research showed the calls were made by a neighbour using a cordless phone in his garden.
It turned out that BT tried not to supply near neighbours with phones using the same frequency, but the neighbour had moved from another area and brought the phone with him.

Have you seen the size of picture windows on posh American houses?L Austin France wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 8:47 pmThat's interesting as I always understood that IR needed line of sight to operate anything.

Over-sensitive garage door remote control
Not possible given the size of our doors which replaced two pairs of large barn doors and which were a nightmare in windy weather (we get a lot of that here).
