The Government wants to increase the rate of vaccination in France and Olivier Véran has announced that those with a brevet de secourisme (he didn't state which level) could join the vaccinators at the centres.
They could do a course via internet and have a half day's tuition to learn how to carry out intra- muscular injections .... he doesn't consider it a big deal (I wonder how many nurses would agree with that...) The secouristes would be remunerated at 25€ an hour.

I’ve had my 3rd vaccine, so they will have plenty of practice time before my 4th.

Genuine question. How hard is it to learn how to give an intramuscular injection? A while ago Biggles needed to have daily subcutaneous injections during a time when we had to go the the UK for a few days. I was taught how to do those by one of the nurses at the local health centre.

Are intra muscular injections much more difficult? I'd be more than happy for someone who had had adequate training to inject me.

Good question but given that cases of thrombosis post injection are now being suggested as being due to the vaccine being accidentally injected into a vein, it might suggest that this is not a kitchen DIY injection.

Just watching news clip of someone (in UK) in Army fatigues doing a vaccination and I whinced.

He stuck the needle in then let go of syringe - so it was only "held" by the needle in the arm before he took hold of the syringe again.

Give me an expert any day.

Easy enough to do if you know the correct technique, its a lot harder being a Phlebotomist, the needles are a smaller bore so you hardly feel the prick :? to extract blood, as blood is a thick sticky substance the needle has to be thicker hence you can feel it more, especially if done wrong

I’ve got awkward veins as they have been described as ‘small and delicate ‘ phlebotomists who do bloods day in day out usually can manage, but nurses struggle. For the research project I am involved with they now go for the back of my hand

We are both qualified Secouriste-Equipiers (same formation as the pompiers) but neither of us has the slightest interest or intention of doing vaccinations. We'd rather stick to the job we are trained for. Where does the buck stop in the event of a problem (which I realise could happen to anyone) ?
