Air Fryers

#1 Post by hughnique »

Has anyone got one of these air fryers, the type that takes no oil, I seem to remember they were, at one time reasonably cheap, apart from the Tefal, SEB models. We do have one of those dome shaped halogen stand alone grill things with the fan in the top and a glass lid and someone has suggested that the results would be the same using that, any thoughts.

You can do chips in there although it’s a faff and you need to par boil them first,so I tend to get the fresh not frozen ready done ones

Fresh potatoes - but you do put a spoon of oil in most I think.

Was researching one myself until the low carb diet changed things!

TBH I could be getting chips and roasted potatoes mixed up ,don’t quote me on the par boil !
Mine says use the spray oils
There are packets of prepared chips in most UK supermarkets I have also bought them in France

Excellent for doing nuggets, samosas, breaded fish pieces and the like - much tastier. Chips is a tricky one, as it does tend to dry them out. Larger, frozen ones are better. Also sautées, and wedges - par boiled as normal, and a little duck fat in there (shhh, don't tell the calorie police!) really helps get a better result.
