I've been trying different types of red and white alcohol free wine, but they're all so sweet they taste just like squash.

Does anyone know some that are dry and not like sirop?

Bonne Nouvelle Rosé is one we both like and a good match for rosé with alcohol but we too have failed to find a good white or red.

By definition “Alcohol free” wine isn’t wine ; It’s a soft drink.

If I am driving and want something to go with a meal then alcohol free rosé can fit the bill if the food fits. Ditto for a refreshing alcohol free spritzer on a hot afternoon when alcohol might to be the best idea - driving, using power tools etc.

I think the objections are coming from those who object to the use of the word wine but what would you call it? Grape juice it most certainly is not. All the ones I have tried are wines that have had the alcohol removed, which means that the flavonoids have developed just as in an alcoholic wine.

Or maybe some have not even tried it and object on principal.

Note they call it wine with a modified alcohol content. It is the same source as your quote.

Returning to the question of why would you drink non alcoholic wine, obviously those who are addicted to alcohol might chose that route as a way of avoiding provoking that addiction. It is also the case that some medications are no alcohol or even strictly no alcohol. People do ignore those warnings and the effects can be to reduce the efficacy of that medication and/or to provoke unwanted side effects. Some antibiotics fall into that category.
