Veg oil?

I noticed this morning there was not many jars of Gherkin's They are normally in brine I think, I like them on my burgers

This morning at Intermarche six jars of Maille mustard left on one shelf the rest of shelves empty - guess sunflower oil goes into mustard?

Very few bottles of olive oil in U express this morning. No veg oil at all. Lotse moutarde and mayo.

Intermarche this morning - notice up to say no mustard available but no shortage of olive oil. Our local fish & chip van who we visit every Friday lunchtime was a very sad occasion. Intermarche could not source any oil for him & he used his last on Monday. He looked really stressed out. However, when the going gets tough what does a chippy man & his daughter do - they remove all the necessary gear for frying and replace with a small fridge/freezer, a pressure/slow cooker, microwave etc and sell home made beefburgers, cheeseburgers, vegi chilli, chicken curry and jacket potatoes. A decision they had to make quickly as they want to stay in business - hats off to them & I so hope that it works out for them both.

It's having quite a knock on effect isn't it. It's quite surprising how many things rely on using oil.

Visited our chippy van man today. He's got 200L of oil coming from Ireland! He tells us that there is no shortage in Ireland as they stock pile it but it is going to be the transportation costs which he says may put an extra 1 or 2 euros on a fish & chip meal - bring it on I say as we're more than happy to pay extra.

Once the world price of fuel oils goes crazy just about everything that has to move from A to B will become more expensive while BP etc. rake in record profits on the back of the price rises.

Lot's of sunflower oil in one of the supermarkets yesterday - limited to three litre bottles per customer, for the sum of €5.35 a litre.

There wasn't a drop of any oil other than olive oil and nut oils in our little Intermarché a couple of days ago - shelf was empty (perhaps they hadn't restocked.... )

Intermarche this morning had quite a few small bottles of sunflower oil on the shelf - don't know if it was a limited purchase as I didn't look!
