Update on Sherlock
A step backwards today, he cried when I gently stroked his back. Tonight he wouldn't take his medication and hid in a quiet corner. This afternoon I heard a confrontation and when I checked Sherlock was on our bed. He hasn't done that by himself for weeks.
He decided to spend the evening in the big litter tray.
I am concerned it might be feline sciatica or something like that.
Worried and stressed am I, it's going on too long

Update on Sherlock
Do you know of an animal physio or osteopath near you ?
There are physios/osteopaths for cats and they can often pick up something that vets don't, possibly because of the hands on approach. We have a wonderful physio here who does dogs and cats and she seems to be able to sort things out by massage and gentle manipulation. If only you were closer....
I found this site which might be of help. There are 2 or 3 people who could be worth trying.

Update on Sherlock
Thanks for that Blaze, I'm seeing the vet again with him on Friday so perhaps I'll mention it and see what she thinks.

Update on Sherlock
As MrMoTM returned from work on Thursday he felt confident to give Sherlock his Tramadol painkiller that I had been struggling to give him, so we changed the appointment for Monday, giving Sherlock 4 days on the tablets.
Since Thursday on the correct tablets, Sherlock has slightly improved. Our daughter picked him up today without him crying, last night I laid on the floor with him, rubbing his neck and tummy which he loved. It was impossible to try and pick him up before this as he was screaming with pain.
So, I think he has improved, he's still not holding his tail up, but maybe baby steps?
We'll see what our vet says on Monday.

How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Update on Sherlock
Hope Sherlock continues to make progress. One of our cats had what sounds like the same problem - tail hung down and couldn't raise it. He just kept hiding under furniture and couldn't jump up. Vet thought he may have been hit by car and damaged vertebrae. She prescribed some tablets for him for about 6 weeks and gradually he was able to lift his tail. Tail is still not as it was before and probably never will be - the end bends over - but at one time we thought he might have to have the tail amputated so really pleased.
What a lovely video. We also have a part Maine Coon cat who would love that toy with the balls - must search for one.
