Is it just me.....
Many, many years ago Mars reduced the size of their bars for the first time stating "We have listened and responded to the wishes of our customers".
I wrote to Mars and asked who are these customers and can you support your claim with details please?
Mars declined pointing out that they could not comply due to privacy/confidentiality reasons. So, I haven't bought a Mars Bar since.

Yesterday I went to Gedimat & bought 4 off 5m x 150/18mm sawn & treated timber known as Volige & used for roofs which I use to make all sorts of rustic garden 'things'.
I can't remember how much I paid the last time I bought some but I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near as much as the 8€ a piece or 10.6€/M2 inc.TVA I was charged on my supposed prix artisan account
Hate to think how much one would now have to pay an enterprise to construct a new roof!

Even the cheaper bulk buying places like Brico Depot are selling timber and stuff at inflated prices. we need a lot of timber, placo and flooring to finish off one half of the house. We've saved up for several years but .............. I suppose we'll have to wait and see if the prices come back down again. The price of wood started going up quite a while ago, Covid and the difficulty of importing being the excuse given
Sadly France chooses to export most of its wood (particularly oak) to countries like China and thus has to import from other countries to supply the domestic need. No doubt someone somewhere is making a nice profit ...

The govt's just announced their energy price policy for the next few months. Gas and electricity prices increases will be pegged at 15% from January and February respectively. This will apply not only to households but also small businesses and local authorities.
In addition, 12 million less well-off households will receive chèques énergies for either €100 or €200 (according to income) before the end of this year to help with energy costs.
The only quid pro quo will be to reduce consumption as far as possible.

If you have one nearby, Noz is always worth a look.
Popped in ours today. "Passage To India" cook/simmer curry sauces (from Australia!) 90cents.
Also, they had "Dr. Oetker" pizzas....half the price of the supermarkets.
Yes, I know, the pizza isn't healthy food, but for a quick tea after working all day, add a few of your own toppings etc...it's fine.

I have been getting this energy cheque for a while now but for some reason it stopped. After investigating their website where there is a simulator I find I no longer qualify. Previously being on a reduced state pension that is considered below the French poverty level I qualified. Two years ago the mrs and I started a joint tax declaration online. I can only assume that her pension added to mine pushes us over the limit and we lose out. So going "online" instead of separate paper ones has lost the benefit. That sounds like a Tory trick.MAD87 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:04 pm The govt's just announced their energy price policy for the next few months. On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

@Hotrodder The thresholds haven't been announced yet, but with all these things, it's €xxxx for une personne seule but €xxxxx for un couple. Maybe the Fisc haven't taken on board that there are 2 of you (2 parts).

I've said this before, but we've bought everything from clothing to tools to food from Noz. We go most weeks. The Street Kitchen range of paste kits are very good. Nescafé compatible coffee pods are a fraction of the price and always available. Recently they had Heinze baked beans. There are four shops around us, some are better than others. It's worth a look if there's one near you.OTBC wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:11 pm If you have one nearby, Noz is always worth a look.
