Ah, bliss.... hot afternoons forecast next week so a good excuse to sprawl on our sofas indoors behind closed windows and tilted shutters, and admire the glories of the French countryside.

I was just walking part of the course this afternoon wondering how they will take some of the sharp bends and road bumps - and realising why the council have removed loads of the street furniture over past few months.

That amazing bridge today with huge ships, motor and sailing yachts going under while the Tour went across. Wow, impressive.
And thus far, how what a good crowd turnout and how well behaved they all were, unlike the early stages last year, in France.

We were due a full Conseil meeting on Friday 22nd but the Maire and others want to be in Cahors for the end of the Stage.
Meanwhile earlier on that day I'm not sure what route to take to drive Fixit back from an eye clinic appt at Montauban .....!

Watched the latest section through the town - part of the route was where I walk every day (I wondered why it was resurfaced!) - interesting - although I would not go any distance to watch - this was within walking distance.

There must have been a hundred vehicles in the "caravan" - I wonder what the fumes do to riders' lungs?

Irony - the official cars are Skoda - and there was also a Skoda breakdown vehicle in the caravan with "Arrets frequents" on the back. Not sure that is quite the correct message they wanted to convey!!!!!

I did wonder if you would take a peek.

Top of a hill or on the climb is the best place to view and I guess you will have benefited.

Yes - I found part of the climb about 1km out - so they were working hard - good to watch. I was surprised how far there was between leaders and stragglers.

Also, much of the escort was French Gendarmes on motorcycles rather than Swiss - I was surprised that they were still armed also.
