What a load of Rubbish.

Just received our notification through the post that the refuse collections will stop/change as from 14th March 2022. Don't know whether this is the same across the board?

"A partir du lundi 14 mars, 2022, tous les bacs vont disparaitre et seules les bornes installées devront être utilisées."

I know lots are up and about already - but not currently charging for deposits. Maybe Jumilhac is a little behind on that score.

So, we'll be charged for each deposit of black bag (30litre) on top of an annual charge. (I guess that's a lot less truck drivers needed?) I see trouble ahead - lots of fly tipping for starters as people don't want to have to do more work to dispose of their rubbish, AND have to pay more for that priviledge! Stinking black bags in summer - in your hot car, is something to look forward to, and may have to be in two bags, if the first one splits.

I think all recycling will still be free - so will people also try to increase what they put into those bins, to reduce black bin waste?

This is going to be interesting.

Of course - fly-tipping will increase. Of course people will put the "wrong" things in recycling bins (we do the reverse in the UK).

You are lucky - you can have a bonfire of waste without upsetting many neighbours - but for those in town who do the same then neighbours will be hacked off.

As for the environment - a few burning plastics will have a negative impact.

Haven't had a bonfire here for several years - hate the smell of them, so don't intend to start now.

We've had passers by dumping stuff on our land before - so I guess we'll need to keep an eye out for that too!

In our area you are allowed one black sack bin collection and one bigger recycling bin collection every two weeks. So much goes into the recycling bin now I don’t think that it will be a problem. All this is included in our annual charge.

Around us some oldies trundle little trolleys with their rubbish bags on to the bac sous-terrain.
A polite offer of help is met with a smart reply of they are quite capable, thank you

We're allowed 18 bags per year, the bill for the year (last year) was 98,83. Previously when we had a bin collection it was 137 euros so much cheaper for us. However, if we go over the 18 bags then we pay extra per bag. Some residents managed to keep hold of their wheelie bins ie hid them before they were collected (I didn't get to mine in time ) and they trundle them down the road. Fortunately for us it's just a 5 minute walk to our bins, we have one bottle bin, 2 bins for everything else and 2 bins for our own h/h rubbish card activated - boy do they stink sometimes and the lids could do with a wash as they are filthy - wouldn't want to be living anywhere near them! We also have a lot of holiday homers who don't use their cards and dump their bags beside the bins!

Our general rubbish black bags used to be collected near the front gate. Then a month went by when it wasn't collected and I had to retrieve it to take it to the dechetterie until one day a neighbour, seeing me putting the bag out again, pointed out that the 3 wheelie bins at the bottom of the hill were for all of us, so I take it out when full and passing in the car. No notification of the change though, but they do send us a list of yellow bag collection days, several years after we were provided with a carrier bag and some yellow bins not far from the gate, thus reducing the plastic waste.

We're still waiting for the "Card", so I guess the paying part won't be implemented yet - indeed, what will holidaymakers do?

18 bags a year - that's one and a half per month.

Our wheelie bin came from the UK and isn't a standard French one - but thanks for the head's up, Sparkle - will hide it forthwith!!
