Far right surge in EU elections
For France to leave the EU and the anti-immigration promises of the RN, things do not bode well for tolerance in France.

Is Frexit still an RN objective?
I thought they were now for remaining in - although if the EU finally get heavy with France not adhering to the rules then I guess that may change.

It's likely to have been modified, but they will of course try to insist that the EU is run according to what France wants ... as was always the case.

Yes - but Germany can no longer afford to pay - hence why the EU has warned 5 or 6 countries, including France, over debt and deficits.
Debt and deficit are both likely to increase under both scenarios.

Better Red than Dead. I just hope the rest of the country feels the same.
The results were similar for our area : présidentielle 42%, Nouveau Front Populaire 28% and Rassemblement National 25%.

Most of this region is heavily LePen a d has been going that way for a while.
Some Brit folks phoned me up fairly late last night wondering what to do, a bit of panic; not sure I was able to reassure them as no one knows yet. But I am not about to start packing and looking for a caravan on the Hull coast!

I suspect if they have white skin and don't read the Koran that they will be safe from the current ideologies.

They are panicking unnecessarily and probably haven't read carefully enough what the RN are proposing ! If they aren't a burden to the state, they are are not going to be on anyone's hit list. Although it's been proposed that people with dual-nationality might be exempted from "sensitive" jobs, it's quite clear from all the other info coming out from the RN that it's aimed at immigrants from other continents (Africa for example) - see @niemeyjt's comment.

Yes, I couldn't agree more with the last two posts; significantly most of the most of those who were voted in on the first round are from areas where there is a heavy Muslim presence, where old industries have died, where incomes are low, and there is high unemployment. Interestingly particularly in the old miniing areas some of them used to vote Communist.

Le Pen said as much some 15 or so years ago on BBC's "Hardtalk" interview. I doubt there has been a need to change that stance.
