Re: Pop pop, Bang bang
I sit in both camps, have held a shotgun licence for many years, and have killed many animals, either vermin or for food, I do miss jugged Hare, there is a reason that some animals need to be controlled, but as said its no good trying to kill an sangilar with a shotgun with a standard charge, I think you can get special cartridges specifically for larger animals, to kill an animal humanely you need the correct tools. Around our way they have a mixture of shotguns and rifles, so perhaps they are one of the better group. To get a licence in France to join the Chasse is difficult, so I think a renewal every four years would be safer, as some of the old boys have a job to walk
never mind carry a loaded gun.

Wasn’t it HWH other half who ran a chasse group so that he knew it was done properly and stuck to the rules

It was, you are right, though I am definitely anti hunting, in fact anti killing anything not out of necessity and particularly not for sport, I much appreciated his balanced view of the other side.
As an aside, has anybody heard from Irene(?) in recent years, she seemed to drop out of sight well before TFF finished? I met her once at a Phoenix sale, a very nice lady.

I agree with you on that, Hard Working Hippy, as I said a lovely lady who had/has a smallholding and was a forum co-founder and useful and regular contributor.
Just as an aside, if you are averse to acronyms @rsm, why @rsm? Were you in the army by any chance?

Irene (HWH) is very much alive and kicking. She's much more than just a small holder - she specialises in permaculture and people come from all over the world to her courses. She fabulous !
