Where's the Summer

Summer is here to stay for several days, 30C and more this afternoon. Rather hot when continuing with unfinished business in the garden. To not be overwhelmed by everything that has to be done I set daily targets, small projects. Today is my lucky day: the Inspector General approved my activities.

Amazingly hot here in UK, (am in Sussex). Just loving it & sea swimming every day, which ias my idea of bliss.

Char, he is a very friendly Inspector General. Sometimes he allows his servant, Robert Gardener, a coffee break during working hours. Lessons learned in his training course modern Human Resource Management.

Well the rains back again - and all my tomato plants have got blight - I'm glad it's only the cost of the seeds and I didn't buy the plants this year.

Point taken, I must admit that in summertime, really arrived. mother nature does a better job, everything neatly in a row.....

I did some sums last night. I record the daily maximum temperatures throughout the year. I have compared the daily highs since 1.4.2021 with the average over 18 years for the same day. Since the start of April we are, on average nearly 2.5C lower than the average, which puts some numerical fact behind the observation that spring has been long and cool and it's still to cold to use the unheated pool.

That's interesting exile - I keep meaning to keep a weather record.
People round here have been lighting their wood-burners in the evening as it's very chilly at night at the moment. We seem to have a couple of days were it's blazing hot, then a week of cold rainy days. 'tis almost like a very wet spring has gone straight to autumn. I've given up with the veg plot as I've either got blight or things are just running to seed where they think it's the end of the growing season.
I'm glad I'm not a Farmer.
