Drop in for a natter about anything French related.@Bayleaf I doubt you've missed much! I haven't watched a single 'election special' so far, but researched each candidate's "promises" over the last few weeks.
MLP has to not only win over the rural voters but also those who think beyond her targeted 'forgotten' electorate - the ones who believe that 'State' money comes from some political slush fund that doesn't involve the taxpayer.

But I think most French forget where the money comes from - or is borrowed from. Retirement age and pensions are another, not mentioned I think so far in the hustings.

Considering most Presidents have some shady goings-on, I don't think he's done too badly. Who could do better? The issue, as always, is where does the money come from? Will he be able to get the pension age up to 65 next time (and it needs to be 67 to 70)? Will he start to get the debt under control (3rd highest in the world after Japan and US)?
Le Pen seems to be of the "money fairy" mentality, and Macron is more sensible - but it will take action to sort the finances and will we see GJ2 when he tries?

As the 'face' of France, yes. I've yet to hear his opponents give details of how they would have dealt with GJs/Covid/Ukraine. As for MLP, noted Eurosceptic who screwed money out of the EU illegally, she'll strive to get us out of the EU and Eurozone.
