Several mentions in the report of a stone quarry - I wonder whether that destabilised the surroundings?

They don't know whether anyone was working in the stone quarry at the time. The road takes over 7,000 vehicles a day - they'll have to use the motorway on the other side of the river .... that'll bring in some dosh for the motorway owners ...

Unlikely that anyone would be working at 19:00hrs and anyone missing could be quickly identified. More concerning is if anyone was on the D1532 which might range from locals on their way home to tourists on their way to/from the next holiday location. The latter might be very difficult to identify as missing persons.
